profession would benefit by the location of such an industry here inasmuch as it would draw thither instead of to othercities the great bulk of the tobacco cultivators who having received their good money in Richmond would spend that part of it among our home merchants which otherwise would be scattered among other cities obtaining this plant if we do not The plant will not cost the people of this county or city one cent though it ofporhapsahundred ployment to 150 to 200 men for six ofIstructive ability and help of many car penters and builders and cover a tract of ground in this city The only consideration asked for the location of this immense Industry hero placeforspirittowardthis county this year and thus extend a welcome to the Uurley Society which is establishing these big redrying plants at displaytheof our people The principal speaker of tho evening Mr Bradley Wilson of llopkinsville set forth tho above plans and conditions in a forcible convincing and unanswer able rgumont At the conclusion of the discussion which latterly partook of the character of a question box Mr Wilson answering every interrogatory quickly and satisfactory a vote of en dorsement of the proposition was called for and not r negative was uttered Tho meeting then adjourned In interviews with representative mer chants and citizens it was found that a sentiment existed for the heartiest cooperation of our people to get the Burley Society to locate this big industry here and the meeting endorsed the proposal that one and all encourage tobacco misers to cooperate in the effort being made to pool their tobacco this year in Madison While the location hero of this big industry is absolutely dependent upon our growers entering the Bailey pool another more vital matter depends upon their joining the pool this year as explained by Mr Wilson who said that the Burley Society must have the united support of the independent growers this year or the whole pool would be aban doned and tho high prices secured for tobacco and which independents are ex pecting agaiH would drop to the old starvation lew for the simple reason that the Burley pool unable longer to carry the independents
